چکیده
Abstract The paper presents the results of experimental testing six masonry rings built to technical scale and strengthened with CFRP strips sheets also an FRCM system PBO, glass, basalt carbon fibers. were subjected tensile loads induced by four hydraulic jacks. assumption is that are a representative simplification domes, especially their structural support. Both single layered domes ribbed exposed stress in up one third height. During tests, following information was collected: loads, displacements, strains composites failure modes. In some cases, initial prestressing reinforcements carried out. Recommendations limitations related use materials tested for reinforcing round, structures under stresses discussed. criterion choosing best solution not only based on comparing strength reinforcement but its stiffness. A strengthening efficiency index proposed. assessment effectiveness out, taking into account heritage building conservation standards. Adopting EF indicator as assessing reinforcement, it can be concluded application methods should considered maintenance historical buildings: PBO mesh PBO-FRCM system, C-FRCM B-FRCM system.

New Frp and Adhesive Materials for Strengthening Infill Masonry Structures
ABSTRACT: This paper explores the behavior of infill masonry structures strengthened with a new type of Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) strengthening system with high fracture strain know as PET (Polyethylene Teraphthalate) and a new near-surface mounted (NSM) Carbon fiber strengthening system using a cementitious material as the adhesive as compared to a Glass Fiber (GFRP) strengthening system ...
متن کاملEfficiency of strengthening techniques assessed for existing masonry buildings
The Azores archipelago is a zone with a vast cultural heritage, presenting a building stock mainly constructed in traditional stone masonry. It is known that this type of construction exhibits poor behaviour under seismic excitations; however it is extensively used in seismic prone areas, such as this case. The 9th of July of 1998 earthquake was the last seismic event in the islands, leaving ma...
متن کاملModeling of Hygrothermal Damage of Composite Materials
Composite materials have been used extensively in various applications, such as mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, and aviation thanks to their interesting mechanical properties. However, a substantial drawback in the use of such composite materials is that they absorb a significant amount of moisture when exposed to severe hygrothermal conditions. This factor dramatically affects t...
متن کاملComposite Materials with Enhanced Conductivities
The authors have analyzed the isotropic thermal/electrical conductivities of two types of specially structured composite materials. Closed-form results have been obtained for predicting the conductivities of the composites, and the accuracy has been verified by FE simulations. The obtained results in this paper are compared to the relevant theoretical predictions and experimental measurements. ...
متن کاملFailure Criteria Analysis of Laminate Composite Materials
This paper deals with the development of a numerical simulation methodology for estimating damages in laminate composite materials caused by a low-speed impact. Experimental tests were performed on laminate plates reinforced with woven carbon fibers and epoxy resin. Three thickness plates were evaluated. The impact loads were transversal and punctual. Two lamina failure criteria were evaluated....
